Hi all, I have a 2018 focus 1.0 ecoboost. It was in the Ford dealership for a new vacuum pump. But when I got it back home the oil light started flashing and the eml light came on. Got the rac out because the engine was making a rattling noise. But oil level was maximum. Can anyone tell me if the vacuum pump could have caused the problem.

Gearbox is a Powershift. I usually use Shell V-Power fuel. During my 2 weeks away for the Xmas holiday, I did lots of driving (about 400 miles) without any problems.
The Ford 1.0 EcoBoost engine fitted to the Fiesta, Focus, B Max and some Ford Connect vans is ran by a wet belt (runs inside the engine) and Ford recommend it should be replaced at 150,000 miles or 10 years. This Fiesta was 8 years old and had only done 80,000 miles and you can see by the pictures the condition of the belt and the debris inside

1. Posted March 20. Iโ€™ve just bought a 2014 Focus 1.0 Ecoboost. The car had full Main dealer history with receipts up to 84,000 miles when the engine failed due to the wet belt. Sold as a non runner to a Ford specialist mechanic who put a new engine in it. Iโ€™ve now bought it at 85,000 miles.
Answered by David Ross. There are known issues with early EcoBoost engines, particularly with a faulty coolant hose, carbon build-up and fuel pressure issues. Ford says that these issues were resolved by 2014. Ultimately there is a degree of risk with any used car, but if an EcoBoost model has been regularly serviced then you are less likely to .
